grand plans

So this year I decided to make a gingerbread house, it's been a while and it looked fun when I bought the kit. The kids have been begging and begging to make it ever since they found it so since we're snowed in, I thought tonight would be the perfect night.

Here's the pieces with 2 of my helpers
I promise, I do normally keep clothes on Bub but...we're snowed in. I also use that excuse for not doing my hair or makeup and not getting out of sweats. I hope the snow sticks around for a while....

Here's the pieces after spending 20 minutes trying to keep the pieces together

2.357 seconds after I decided to make gingerbread cookies instead.

You know how I said I heart snow?????

Well I still do!!!!!!! Woot! And we've got it, oooooooooooooh yeah! This past week has ROCKED!!! I can't even begin to tell you how happy it makes me even though we are now snowed in and I'm not done Christmas shopping....

I've tracked the amount of snow by measuring it on my neighbors car

Early Sunday Morning
Sunday Afternoon
Monday morning. Our van looks similar to this. So does our bbq on our back deck.

Our friends, the Z's, came and saved us from going without milk and some other Christmas food by picking up me, Jay and Carrie last night with there 4 wheel drive burb. Carrie and I did make an early hiking trek to the little town store Monday morning for some much needed caffeine...you don't know how close I came to drinking Larry's tea for the caffeine...it was close people and I dislike drinking tree bark...desperate times call for desperate measures. On the positive side, the snow is up to my knees and gave me a much needed workout.

Partying with the Coopers

Last weekend we had our Annual Cooper Christmas Party! Wahoo! Good company, good times and good food.

Here's just a sampling.
Our hostess Cathe and our little Lindsay (minus mouth full of food...your welcome) who is turning 18 next month....it's making me feel old. I was there for her birth and her first months of life and now.... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah sniff sniff Where does the time go????...sigh

Larry explaining the importance of talent trees for a Warrior in World of Warcraft. What it has to do with Christmas you might ask...well...nothing but since there were a lot of us who play at the party, it had to come up in conversation.

Sara and MaggieEmily and CourtneyThe girls loved decorating these adorable wooden doll thingies. Thanks Cathe and Maggie for picking these out!

The boys made airplanes with Grandpa
Grandpa testing out the plane, by the look on Hyrums face, it worked.

Clint and Super Dylan playing with legos

Clint claims, he was playing with them FOR the kids....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I didn't get a picture of this mysterious Stephen, who just happened to not get into any of my pictures... I think he has some magical ability or something. Just take my word for it, he is super cute!

Darcy was there, I just don't have proof but trust me...she was there and she is also super cute!

This little cutie is Paige, Clint and Darcy's youngest. All the girls and Hyrum are in total love with this cutie. Ok, maybe Hyrum was more fascinated by her but believe it or not, she is even cuter in real life.
By the end of the night I became, officially, her favorite aunt (according to me)...but really, how could I not be????

Here's Grandma being happy.

Here's Grandpa reading a story.
Thanks again to Cathe for hosting and dealing with the clean up. Your the best!!!

What? Another snow day???

That's right we had another snow day and it looks like it might be turning into a snow week which is turning out to be a 3 week Christmas Vacay...woot!!! June is gonna suck but who cares??? We should be getting about 6 inches tomorrow. :) I ran to the store and stocked up on Diet Pepsi, so no worries there...oh and also bread and milk blah blah blah.

I'm liking this snow day thing, we got some stuff done like picked up a Christmas tree yesterday. We even got a discount price on our tree because the old guys didn't want to be out in the cold any more. These 3 wimps wouldn't even brave getting out of the van to pick out a tree.
Luckily, Me, LM and Jackson are soooo awesome and braved the cold.
LM is even wearing shorts...ok so he pretty much wears shorts at least 364 days of the year...he did wimp out later in the day and put sweats on...wuss.

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

I love SNOW DAYS even if it's not a SNOW DAY for me. Maybe it's Jacksons excitement of having a SNOW DAY that get's me excited.

It's days like this that I'm glad we live on the corner of two steep roads so all the kids in town bring their sleds and spend the day sledding in front of our house. FUN FUN We have nice neighbors that loaned Jackson a sled for a little while.

Last night Emily looked outside and said "Mom! It's snowy-er".
She was a little less excited about it this morning when she went out to play in it. She came in after just a few minutes and said "Snow is wet!" slight pause "Snow sucks!".

I still heart snow.

The only down side is that it is BUTTFREEZINCOLD. This morning I sent Jackson out on a suicide mission to the store. As in I was going to commit suicide if I didn't get Diet Pepsi because tragically I was out. He made it back fine but swore he wasn't going to do that again.

sickness and other uninteresting things

I'm sick.

It's called Icantdecorateworthcrap. It's pretty serious, it causes our house to never look like we really live there and all the holidays look like this:

instead of this.

Ok, I really don't want to look like this but I love this picture and I love that house because how "colorful" it is every Christmas. On a pointless side note, an old couple live here, I mean REALLY old. A couple of years ago, I past this house one December day and saw the couple outside, the old man was standing on the ladder while the old woman was holding it. It was adorable and scary all at the same time. Is it wrong that I'm not more politically correct and called them old man and old woman???

Anyway, back to my sickness. It actually really isn't a sickness, I know this is shocking, it's more of a fear of decorating badly. It's been exaggerated by the fact that I'm needing to replace my flooring, I'm wanting a reddish laminate flooring...not red but brownish/redish. I was starting to stress about it but thankfully, or unthankfully, It's on hold. We're gonna have to deal with our current flooring for a little while longer...or until Larry has a permanent job. It's giving me a reprieve from stressing about it so I can spend more time wringing my hands, pacing the floor, stress eating about money, jobs, kids and other life stresses.

On a positive note, I'm pretty close to being done with my Christmas shopping, I went grocery shopping this week, it was getting kind of scary around here because we had gone 4 days without peanut butter. I bought a new microwave. between no microwave and no peanut butter...it kind of felt like the Hunger Games. Thankfully we are all still alive. I got the Christmas decorations out, I've been getting Christmas cards...WOOHOO and thank you to those who sent us cards!!! By the way, you probably won't be getting one from us...sorry...Merry Christmas. To top off this week I fell in love with puff paint all over again!!!! Thanks Memzy!!!!

I'm super bummed that I missed Smart Remarks, I was all set right up to 5 minutes before it started then got pulled away for some very important business. It was totally bogus and un fun making but it's settled.

But for a super short version of my opinion about The Uglies, I liked it sort, if it had less of "You should be ashamed of yourself for being a consumer, not recycling more, using natural resources, driving cars, and other such crap"I would have liked it a lot more. It's just annoying. BUT besides that I like it, I don't like Shay...she's annoying and now that I'm reading pretties, she's even more annoying. Sara is now reading Uglies and LOVES it, she can't wait to read the next book, which means I need to finish it pretty soon.

I'm also making a new goal to update more but it may mean that my blog will be pretty bogus.

Another question

How do people eat without a microwave??? Ours has been broken for 3 days and I'm pretty sure the world is going to come to an end. I'm just warning you. I don't think I could have lived in the olden days...I mean how do people cook breakfast, lunch and dinner without a microwave??? another question....why do I keep putting my post on the smart remarks blog??? I hate it when I do that....

uh...umm...uh...question

Where did November go??? Seriously...where?? Because we just started and now it's December. Hmmm, I think I'm gonna need to pay a little more attention this month, next thing you know it's gonna be Christmas and my kids are gonna be like "What the ....?" "Santa forgot to give us presents!" I can totally see it happening.....

For like the first time since...well...the first time in a really long time, I'm not mostly done with my Christmas shopping, in fact I've barely started. I had all these great plans to make stuff this year...totally not happening. Oh well...there's always next year right??? Or did I say that last year??? It kind of sounds familiar.

I heart Edward

That's all I wanted to say. Oh and I'm pretty sure Edward hearts me. Oh and I really liked the movie. Oh and I'm totally gonna buy it when it comes out. Oh I'll probably will most likely be forced to watch Twilight again...'cause of my thirst for Edwards hawtness. Oh, I think I might have a problem.

That is all. Oh wait, no it's not. I love LM...just in case you were worried about my hearting a fictional character.

Don't you hate it when...

Your feeling under the weather and a tad bit on the crabby side when you go into your kitchen and see your brita water filter on the counter completely empty and your like "Am I the only one capable of filling this thing up???" in your most annoyed voice, speaking to nobody in particular. So you open up the top, position the faucet, turn on the water then walk away.
The infamous brita and faucet.

Then a few minutes later your 5 year old comes to you and says something like "Mom, there's a lot of water." and you immediately say to yourself in the most snobby annoyed voice "What did you guys do this time?" Then a few steps later, you realize that YOU are the problem. You run to the kitchen that is now a lake, lift up your too long jammie bottoms, run to the faucet to turn off the water then scream at the kids to find every towel in the house and bring it to you pronto and they bring like 1 towel and ask where the towels are and your like " WHAT THE *@%$? YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THE TOWELS ARE???? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A LIVE AND LIVED IN THIS HOUSE????"
So then you run around grabbing all the towels while your 3 year old enjoys a swim in the kitchen. 10 minutes later, you've soaked up most of the water in the kitchen, you walk into the dining room and feel a very wet squish beneath your feet....then say "CRAP NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" . Your forced to rip up the carpet and the padding to dry the floor and now it looks like this
but first you have to move the 10 ton china cabinet out of the way by yourself and it's like REALLY heavy and it royally sucked.

really heavy china cabinet (that we actually don't put china in cause we don't have any, don't cry for me Argentina..I mean friends...it's ok...we're kind of into plastic dishes anyway.)

The good news is, I think it's become our motivation to replace our disgusting carpet in there soooo...now I need opinions. I'm thinking wood laminate...any opinions or ideas????

I know I haven't been around much but...

it's for a very good reason. World of Warcrack came out with an expansion and I've been VERY busy healing people and hunting stuff in the new land. It's exhausting.... I should really quit but.... I'm not an addict or anything, I just play recreational-ly...I could quit at any time...I really could.... but I'm not....' cause I'm not an addict.

OOOO I do have some good news though. In the middle school they are have "that" educational time...you know, the time where all the kids are embarrassed because they are learning about each others bodies...hahahahahaha Anyway, Jackson took some very important notes that I thought I would share with the world.
There you go people. I think he summed it up pretty good. He even signed and dated it. I think I'm gonna be keeping this, in fact, I may go laminate it....when I'm done laughing.

Happy 'The Election Is Over' Day!!!!!!

Unlike most of America, I don't have cable so all the campaigning wasn't in my face EVERYDAY unless I checked the news on the net...which I do once a day but don't always read the articles, just scan the headlines...just keepin it real. So my 2 cents might not even be worth that BUT I'm glad it's over and though I don't agree with Obama, I'm feeling hopeful for our country. I think for the first time in a REALLY long time we can finally see that no matter your race, gender or religion, anything is possible. He's going to be the example to those that hold themselves back or use excuses to not be or do something better. I was even touched by this speech, it was beautiful and I do realize it's just a speech and actions are stronger than words, but it left me with a feeling of hope. I think hope is big, especially now when this country is in such a mess, hope can change this country...maybe Cathe's optimism is getting to me. Plus, I was watching a short video from The View, and they had a numerologist and a psychic on and they both said that Obama was going to win and this coming year is going to get better...so that's good news....

HA 2nd post today and it's not even 10:35 AM

I've been a blog reading slacker and I'm trying to catch up today. I've been noticing a Halloween theme going through everybody's blogs which makes me feel REALLY guilty. Guilty? you make ask why. Because this year I talked me kids out of trick or treating. I don't know if that makes me a genius our a really mean mom. I'm pretty sure it's debatable. I'm not a halloween / costume kind of gal and some years it's worse than others. I don't know what it is but after 10 years of trick or treating it's getting kind of old...PLUS Bub needs something to talk to his future therapist about. Poor kid, does this mean I've ruined his childhood??? Maybe it won't matter, maybe he won't remember or think it's weird that I didn't scrapbook Halloween for this year. I don't think I'll be able to get away with it again, but this year I sat back and enjoyed not getting kids dressed and ready to go trick or treating in the cold wet rain.

Since I don't have Halloween pictures and I know you guys are DYING for more halloween pictures I decided to post pictures of me and my best friend Krysten circa 1988. We totally rocked!

continued

HA GOTCHYA! I'm not really continuing hahahaha I'm so sneaky...almost as sneaky as Jenny and her no halloween blog post. I had big plans of continuing but call me lazy...or busy, it didn't happen, plus the other 5 rock with their blog posts that it even made me jealous of the trip and I was there....well you know....except for the observation deck of the Seattle Space Needle but really people, how was I suppose to go out there when I could feel the building move???? I'm pretty sure that if I stayed out there the wind would have TOTALY blown me off the building...and that is a FACT!

So anyway, instead of continuing I thought I'd share pictures from Sara's Princess Derby. That's right boy scouts, move over 'cause the girls are in the house...or the church gym...whatever.

Sara's Car
She had a blast designing and painting her car.

Wanna know what cars at a Princess Derby look like????
Pink...very very very pink.

Here's Sara, nervously awaiting the big race.
She's the one in the pink skirt.

Her first race
She lost...boy did she lose. I guess that's what happens when you design your car to look like a minivan....

Her car never won, even when they were goofing off after the derby. Though she did come in 2nd place when she raced her 2 friends but she was so sad that 1 of her friends lost that she said that she wished her car would have come in last so it wouldn't make her friend feel bad. Have I told you how much I love this girl???? She ROCKS!!!!

P.S. when you decide to finally put up a post make sure it's under your own blog and not SMART REMARKS. I'm just saying....I'm retarded....

Hey gize, it's me Cristin

I hope this doesn't sound braggy 'cause I'm totally not like that, but I had the best weekend with the best 5 girls. I'm feeling sooooooo blessed that I got to go on the best blog trip EVER. Seriously gize, even though I don't even know you gize, it was the BEST trip EVER.
FACT:

Seattle Rocks! Seattle Space needle does not rock! Some poor sucker got sick when we got to the top and could only spend 3 seconds on the observation deck before having to go back inside to keep from barfing...loser.

sorry gize

Even though Amy's back was in excruciating pain, she was able to muscle through it and still be funny. She's such an inspiration...it totally motivated me to muscle through my own toe pain to have a great weekend.

Traveling capes rock, being flanked with frousins with traveling capes, rocks more.

Old dudes that give directions to 6 girls who got kinda lost while trying to find a bathroom on the way to Forks, rocks! Farms with magical dirt doesn't rock as much.

PA...you know Port Angeles Rocks, though the restaurant that Edward takes Bella doesn't rock as much as I thought it would and the mushroom ravioli that Bella eats is only so so.

These girls REALLY are as funny as their blogs.

to be continued....
