Champoeg

Our first adventure was to Champoeg (pronounced Sham-poo-ey) State Park. It's a park with great history, the first provisional government on the west coast was established there. It has a 3 mile loop that takes you through some beautiful greenery and goes along the Willamette (pronounced Wil-lam-it) River. It was a great first adventure for us. Not too far from home and the kids were able to learn which is great for me and always makes me feel less guilty when we aren't doing "regular" school work. haha

I had planned this whole week to go, but when we woke up on Friday, the sky looked stormy and I thought that maybe we would have to put it off but the kids kept pushing to go even going as far as telling me that we could take umbrellas, which of course makes me laugh and slightly embarrassed. We obviously have taught them NOTHING because true Oregonians don't use umbrellas.

Anyway, I decided that we might as well go, we shouldn't let rain stop us from having fun today and I'm so glad we did because it ended up be a gorgeous day, perfect for our first outing!
We started out with a picnic.

Then I had to take pictures of my kids, to the annoyance of Bubby. He didn't want to sit still long enough for me to take a picture. He was finally FREE to run around and let lose, he would give me the evil eye every time I called his name.

My view of the kids on the trail.
We ended with a tour through the small museum and getting to see a short film. It was tons of fun and I can hardly wait to get out again.

Beautiful pics! What a gorgeous park. Cherie is homesick for Oregon... its easy to see why.

I wish we had places like that to visit in Nevada. We have casinos and desert preserves, and you've seen one desert, you've seen them all.
